Public Readings of the TORAH Dates to the Time of Moses
TORAH Portion: The Torah is read publicly over the course of a year, with one major portion read each week in the Shabbat morning service.
Haftorah: A reading from the Nevi'im (Prophets) recited after the Torah reading and is usually thematically related to the Torah portion.
Parashah: A Parashah or Sidra is a portion of scripture from the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible). The division of scipture into parashot is often based on a change in topic, change in thought or to highlight a specific verse or verses.
